Longevity: a marker is not the whole outcome
How to evaluate peptide wellness claims · introductory evidence-reading guide, not a treatment guide.
Educational information for healthcare professionals and the general public. Not individual medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a recommendation to use a compound.
An aging-related measurement can be scientifically interesting without establishing that a person will live longer or remain healthier.
Understand the endpoint
Clinical outcomes describe how people feel, function or survive. A surrogate endpoint substitutes for a clinical outcome and needs evidence supporting its interpretation in a particular context. Some surrogates are validated; others remain candidates. Not every biomarker is a validated substitute for clinical benefit. Surrogate Endpoint Resources for Drug and Biologic Development
Read longevity claims in context
Ask whether a report concerns cells, animals or treated people. Then identify the actual result: a laboratory measurement, physical function, illness, or survival. Changing the description from a measured marker to “age reversal” adds a conclusion that needs its own support.
Look for an explicit account of what was measured, what was inferred and what remains unknown. Community stories may explain why people are interested, but they do not determine the scientific label. The existing mitochondrial-marker lesson is a useful starting point.

What is a peptide? Structure, function, and evidence
The word peptide identifies a molecular structure. Understanding that structure is the starting point for asking better questions about biological function, research findings, and therapeutic claims.

Origin and manufacturing method help describe a peptide, but they do not establish the quality or clinical performance of a finished product. Molecular identity and the conditions of exposure remain essential.
