Dihexa

Editorial audit: October 15, 2026 · draft; scientific, medical and translation review pending

01What is reported

Dihexa is described for cognitive enhancement using mechanistic arguments involving HGF/c-Met signaling.

02Proposed rationale

The proposed mechanism attracted interest, but a plausible pathway depends on reliable supporting experiments.

NOT A RECOMMENDATION.Each amount is attributed to the source identified for that entry: regulatory product labeling, human research, or community and practice sources. These source categories have different evidentiary roles. They are not medical advice, not a protocol, not a recommended or safe dose, and not evidence that it works. Do not use them to start, change or stop any treatment. Talk to a qualified healthcare professional.

03What the research shows

Dihexa is an experimental peptidomimetic studied in laboratory and animal models. A key 2014 HGF/c-Met mechanism paper was retracted in 2025; the separate 2013 discovery study carries a 2021 notice of concern. Other animal studies report model-dependent findings, including benefits in some memory tasks and a negative result in a rat model of Huntington-like disease. Additional preclinical work supports investigation of HGF/MET involvement, but the sources reviewed do not establish cognitive benefit, safety, or a validated dosing regimen in people. Laboratory potency comparisons must not be presented as proof of clinical superiority over BDNF. Scientific/expert review pending.

04Limits and unknowns

Claims that relied on that paper need independent confirmation. The retraction does not establish that every possible claim about Dihexa is false, and it does not supply human efficacy or safety evidence either.

05Questions to ask about the product

An analytically identified material still cannot inherit efficacy from retracted evidence.

06Open research question

Which downstream reviews and community claims continued to cite the retracted paper without acknowledging its status?
